A big thank-you to everyone who has already donated to our   Mozambique School Project.
We will be collecting until the beginning of March so please continue to sort out your cupboards.

Finally
We apologise for the fact that you now have to pay to park at Quinta Shopping. This is a Loule Camara decision which we have no control over. We hope it does not lead to the Centre losing its treasured customers. In the grand scheme of things it is just a very small price to pay and we the hope that Portugal can sort itself out, so we can continue to enjoy all it has to offer.

Where else within two and a half hours from Northern Europe can you enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beach, the magnificent golf courses and unspoilt countryside, in the sunshine, in late Autumn and Winter!!

The lakes on San Lorenzo Golf Course in November and below a few of my favourite photos from the Algarve taken this Autumn.

Wishing You All a Very Happy Christmas
and a Prosperous New Year
from all of us!

Benguerra Island School

A Special Place

I took these photos during our recent stay on Benguerra Island, Mozambique.

These children are sitting in a classroom in a tiny school on a tiny island off the coast of Mozambique.
They love their school. Some of them walk nearly 5 kilometres each way to get there. It provides the only means to improve their lives and eventually find jobs off the island or with the resorts that are supporting this small community.

They have three enthusiastic teachers and three new buildings, but very little in the way of learning materials. They desperately need books in Portuguese, dictionaries, stationery, pens, pencils, rulers and all the things you would normally see in a school.
.

Their community subsists on the dwindling fish in the lagoon and what they can grow.
There are no roads, running water, sanitation, electricity or medical clinics.

With the generous offer of help from DHL Worldwide Express who have agreed to ship for free, and the Raindbow Fund set up by the Azura Resort on Benguerra, we would like to send out as much as we can collect to help this amazing community.

We would like to ask all our friends, customers, local businesses, and blog readers to donate a few useful items that will make a huge difference to these wonderful children.
I am sure you all have an odd drawer that needs a clear out!
